We explore new opportunities and invest in initiatives that strengthen the social well-being and relationships with local communities at our airports to promote these five SDGs:

GOAL 1: No Poverty

End poverty in all its forms everywhere and ensure that all men and women, in particular the poor and the vulnerable, have equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to basic services by 2030.

g3

GOAL 3: Good Health And Well-Being

Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

g4

GOAL 4: Quality Education

Provide opportunities to quality education for all primary and secondary school students and ensure the acquiring of essential knowledge and skills for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship amongst students.

g10

GOAL 10: Reduced Inequalities

Empower and promote social, economic and political inclusion of all regardless of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or statuses.

g17

GOAL 17: Partnership For The Goals

Encourage and promote effective public, public-private and civil society partnerships, building on the experience and resourcing strategies of partnerships to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

To ensure these goals are supported continuously, several programmes have been designed by Malaysia Airports to benefit the community:

Community Enrichment & Youth Empowerment  Through Education

cf1

Through this pillar, we aim to elevate the community's livelihood by investing in and spearheading enrichment and environmental consciousness projects among communities surrounding our airports nationwide.  Additionally, we aim to support the national education agenda by enhancing academic performance and fostering leadership development in students through the High Fliers Programme.

Among the key projects under this pillar are Ceria Aidilfitri, Food Aid programme, Mangrove Tree Planting, Back To School programme, School Airport Tour programme and Bursary programme.

Within the High Fliers Programme, which is the leadership development programme for eligible employees' children, we have put in place various activities including participation in the Outward Bound School module, the Entrepreneurship & Financial Literacy Module, and the Mandarin Language Module.

Championing Disability Inclusion

cf2

To foster an inclusive and accessible environment for individuals with disabilities.

Focusing on promoting equal opportunities and accessibility by implementing practises and providing facilities for the special needs at the airport and contributing to disability-related causes in the community.

Among the projects under this pillar  are Partnership with Pusat Perindustrian & Pemulihan OKU, Society of the Blind in Malaysia, Sending off & Homecoming of Summer Paralympic Game 2024, Butterfly Effect programme

Education Scholarship Programme

cf3

To promote and preserve Malaysian arts, culture and heritage to both local and international audiences at the airport through programmes such as Festival Tradisional Joget & Zapin and Partnership with the National Department for Culture and Arts

These programmes serve to revitalise cultural traditions, arts and heritage that may be at risk of being overlooked or fading away. These initiatives include supporting local artists, funding cultural projects, organising events to showcase traditional arts and collaborating with related agencies to support the sustainability of cultural practices.

Beyond Borders School Adoption Programme

cf4

Beyond Borders is a three-year programme targeted for primary school students to improve English proficiency through learning English in a fun and engaging way. Since its inception in 2007, 32 schools nationwide have been adopted under the programme and have impacted nearly 30,000 students. We have adopted four new primary schools in 2017, focusing on underprivileged schools in communities surrounding Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and will continue to benefit 2,000 students from these schools until the end of 2019.

Celebrating Malaysian Culture

cf5

As the custodian of Malaysia’s gateways into the country, we are in a good position to promote Malaysian culture and heritage to an international audience. We have collaborated with various state and federal tourism agencies to promote the Malaysian experience at our airports.
