The increasing number of business and leisure travelers to the historic state of Malacca has brought an improvement in passenger traffic to the airport.  In 2007, more than 27,209 passengers passed through the airport on 64,936 flights and this is likely to increase following efforts by Tourism Malaysia to promote the state.

The airport is located 10km from town, covering 140.71 acres site with a 1,372-metre long runway.
