SEPANG – Malaysia Airports would like to clarify on the news report circulating regarding the takeover of Subang airport by a private business entity.
It is not uncommon for the market to submit proposals to the Government on developing new airports or taking over an existing airport. This has occurred a number of times in the past and as part of the process, the Government will seek our input on the matter and together with Malaysia Aviation Group, we have given our preliminary views. It is also important to get the views from the regulators such as Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM) and Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) before any decision can be made. At this point of time, we have not been given the details of the proposal yet and neither has there been a discussion held with the Government on the details.
